Technology Innovator to employ over 50 in new Dublin office by end 2018
Dublin – Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD, today announced that PTC (NASDAQ: PTC), a global provider of technology platforms and solutions that transform how companies create, operate, and service the “things” in the Internet of Things (IoT), will create 50 new jobs at its newly established research and development centre in Dublin. Initial positions include DevOps Engineers, Cloud Architects and Security Architects.
The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister Mitchell O’Connor TD said, "I am delighted that PTC is establishing an International Headquarters in Dublin creating 50 new jobs. This is a strong vote of confidence in Ireland and in the skills of the Irish workforce. Ireland has developed extensive expertise in ICT generally, particularly in software development. We have a very strong position in a range of IT specialities and we are very much aware that the 'Internet of Things', involving a world of connected devices, represents a new wave of potential and of growth opportunities. I wish the PTC team every success for the future".
Craig Hayman, Group President, IoT Solutions Group, PTC said, “PTC is a recognized leader in the Internet of Things and in helping companies around the world design, build and service great products. Ireland is a strong location with a well-established technology sector well suited to complement the work we will be doing at our IoT Solutions research and development facility. The establishment of the Irish operation is key to PTC’s global growth strategy.”
This is not PTC’s first investment in Ireland. The PTC Academic Program is already part of the curriculum in academic institutions such as Trinity College Dublin, DIT, ITT Dublin, GMIT, AIT, and University of Limerick, all of which teach PTC’s 3D modelling software solution, Creo. Students are prepared for their careers by learning to use the industry-standard engineering design tool commonly in place with future employers. PTC also supports the Cork Institute of Technology, Maynooth University and Tyndall National Institute in developing smart projects using PTC’s IoT development platform, ThingWorx.
Welcoming the announcement Martin Shanahan, CEO, IDA Ireland said, “Ireland has the perfect mix of industry, people and processes to allow companies, like PTC, to develop IoT products and services. IDA Ireland has a clear focus on investing and winning in the IoT space and believe that Ireland can emerge as an IoT global leader, due to its rich and strong history in the technology sector. I wish PTC every success with its new Irish operation.”
