Minister Richmond visits the Local Enterprise Office in Limerick

Minister of State for Employment Affairs and Retail Business, Neale Richmond T.D., was in Limerick’s Local Enterprise Office (LEO) today where he met with council officials and members of the LEO team as well as some of their client companies.

The Minister was greeted at the Limerick LEO by Olivia O'Sullivan, Cathaoirleach of the Metropolitan District of Limerick, Mike Cantwell, LEO Head of Enterprise and Vincent Murray, Director of Economic Development.

Minister Richmond then met the Local Enterprise staff to hear about the work being undertaken currently by the Limerick LEO.

Next Minister Richmond was given a tour of the new Engine Collaboration Centre where he met LEO client companies currently enrolled on a LEO Export Programme. This LEO and EI-supported centre based in Cecil Street, Limerick, provides support to start-ups and entrepreneurs in developing their ideas through industry mentoring, knowledge sharing and leveraging the latest emerging technologies and design thinking methods.

The LEO Export Programme runs workshops on building an export strategy, financing an export strategy, generating sales and creating awareness, and creating an export marketing strategy. This gave the Minister a real insight into the day-to-day supports being given to client companies in Limerick.

Later, Minister Richmond travelled to Titan Sports where he met John O’Grady, Head of Operations. Titan Sports, which has been in business for over 10 years, now produces all its medals using recycled metal and as part of its sustainability, it makes T-shirts from recycled plastic bottles. Their product range also includes cycling wear, hoodies, jackets and a wide variety of T-shirts.

Minister Richmond said:

“I am delighted to visit the Limerick Local Enterprise Office and meet with the LEO team and LEO client John from Titan Sports. Meeting businesses across the country is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role and it is great to meet such a dynamic company.

“Limerick is a county with so much to offer and it is great to see the dedication the LEO team has to local businesses here and their commitment to the growth and success of their clients.”

On the conclusion of his visit, Minister Richmond said:

“The impact of support provided by Local Enterprise Offices to businesses across the country cannot be underestimated. Mentorship, funding and training can be transformative to businesses across every sector.

“The success of the LEO office here in Limerick can be seen clearly through the success of companies such as Titan Sports and their ambitious plans for the future. It’s also very encouraging to see a space like the Engine Collaboration Centre in Limerick city which is supporting SMEs throughout the region in all aspects of their development. Thanks to the LEO network, businesses across Ireland can rest assured that support is available to help them grow and create jobs now and into the future.”
