Line-up announced for event on 11th March
One of the world’s largest e-commerce platforms, IoT innovators, machine learning technologists, world-class biotechnologists and “the hottest start-up of the year” are just some of the employers coming to Career Zoo next month. The event, which takes place at The Convention Centre Dublin on Saturday, 11th March from 10am to 5pm, was officially launched today (22.02.17) by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD.
Employers hiring at the March event will include e-commerce giant Jet.com; internet of things company PTC; and biopharma leaders BMS and Amgen. Performance marketing engine Criteo and software company Qualtrics – recently named as one of the hottest start-ups of the year – are also on board.
Career Zoo is Ireland’s premier career networking event, taking place twice each year at The Convention Centre Dublin. It attracts leading tech employers and over 7,000 attendees each time.
In addition to leading employers, next month’s line-up will include panel discussions focused on topics such as the Internet of Things (IoT), future tech, FinTech, machine learning, big data and BioTech. There will also be coding workshops, hacks, a series of talks on promoting diversity in tech and a ‘Game of Threats’ cyber security workshop.
Commenting today, Jackie Slattery, Director of Career Zoo, said: “The past 12 months have seen some challenges for employers, but also lots of exciting opportunities.
“Across the Atlantic, the new US administration is bedding down, which means there will be greater certainty for employers about economic priorities and opportunities for global growth.
“In the wake of Brexit, meanwhile, Ireland will become the sole English-speaking country in the EU. With our excellent track record in sectors such as tech, biopharma and financial services, employers here will be well positioned to capitalise on the opportunities that presents.
“Career Zoo has always been a good litmus test for how the business community in Ireland is faring. Following a year that saw lots of change, it’s reassuring that employers in Ireland still have plenty of exciting opportunities on offer. In particular, we continue to see growth in demand for skilled STEM-sector roles, such as dev ops, data scientists and bioengineers.”
Diversity Focus
“Diversity is important for the employers at Career Zoo on a number of fronts. Firstly, there is the need to encourage greater diversity in the STEM sectors and, secondly, there is the fact that talented employees can be very selective about the companies they work with,” she said. “Companies that promote diversity and offer a welcoming and accepting environment gain a competitive edge.
“At the next Career Zoo event, we will have several workshops with a specific focus on diversity, and a Main Stage panel discussion with representatives from InterTech Ireland. That companies are increasingly geared towards diversity is a sure sign that employees are setting the scene for their workplace culture.”

Career Zoo on 11th March will have approximately 50 employers in attendance, including professional and financial services and biopharma companies, in addition to STEM-sector leaders.
