Minister Halligan welcomes the appointment of Sharon Bailey as the Chairperson of the European Association of Research Managers Administrators (EARMA)

The Minister for Skills, Training and Innovation, John Halligan TD, today welcomes the appointment of Sharon Bailey as the Chairperson of the European Association of Research Managers Administrators (EARMA). Ms Bailey, currently Director of Research Finance & Operations in University College Dublin (UCD,) is the first woman elected to this role.

EARMA represents the community of Research Managers and Administrators (RM&As) in Europe. It currently has more than 1,000 members, across 40 Countries, who work in industry, academia, the public and private sectors. EARMA works with the EU Commission, as well as national and international funding agencies. It provides a networking forum, a learning platform, and a place to share experiences and best practice in the wider RM&A community.

Minister Halligan said "The appointment of Sharon Bailey is a fantastic achievement both for her personally and the Irish research community. I wish to extend my congratulations to Ms Bailey and wish her every success in her new role. Gender equality in research and development continues to be a priority area for my Department, both nationally and at EU level.”
