DETE Social Media Policy

This Social Media Policy provides an overview of the social media channels used by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE). It outlines what you can expect from these accounts, and how we interact with audiences.

Social media presence

DETE currently has accounts on X (@DeptEnterprise), LinkedIn and YouTube

DETE’s social media presence is managed by its Corporate Communications Unit. Content is usually posted by the staff of Corporate Communications Unit but may also occasionally be posted by other DETE staff who have been given authorisation.

We continuously monitor these social media channels, and other social media channels for effectiveness, suitability and opportunities to communicate better with our audiences. We may decide to open new social media accounts or remove accounts.

What to expect

Content

On DETE’s social media accounts you can expect to see:

  • information relevant to employees and businesses in Ireland
  • news stories and press releases
  • facts and figures relevant to enterprise, trade and employment
  • speeches and statements from ministers and other officials of the department
  • photos and videos from events and ministerial engagements
  • live streaming of events
  • consultations and publications
  • emergency communications, for example, during extreme weather events
  • other relevant content

Following and sharing

DETE may follow accounts which are of relevance to its work. If DETE follows another social media account, it does not imply an endorsement of any kind.

Content shared or liked by DETE does not imply any endorsement of the original message, the individual or the organisation. If you follow a DETE social media account, we will not automatically follow you back.

Posts from other accounts which are directed at DETE accounts do not represent the views of DETE or government.

Please do not include personal or private information in your posts or messages to us.

Moderation and feedback

We welcome comments and feedback from users. DETE does not however, accept responsibility for third-party content.

DETE reserves the right to delete comments and report accounts that:

  • contain abusive, obscene, indecent or offensive language, or link to obscene or offensive material
  • are not relevant to the content posted
  • impersonate DETE in any way
  • constitute spam or promote or advertise products
  • are designed to cause nuisance to the page administrator or other users

For serious or persistent breaches of the moderation policy, we reserve the right to prevent users from posting further comments and will block accounts.

We welcome feedback and reserve the right to join conversations where possible. We may not reply individually to all messages received through social media platforms.

Availability

We regularly update and monitor our social media accounts during normal office hours, Monday to Friday (not including public holidays). We may update and monitor the accounts outside of these hours.

Social media platforms may occasionally be unavailable, and we accept no responsibility for lack of service.
