Reports, Research and Analysis
The Report of the Business Regulation Forum (BRF) makes one recommendation: that an administrative burden reduction programme be carried out in Ireland during the lifetime of the next government.
This has the potential to reduce the "red tape" cost of regulation to business by upwards of €500 million, if carried out effectively.
Background Information
The Business Regulation Forum (BRF) was set up by the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment in 2006, and was tasked with examining specific existing regulations, or areas of regulation, applying to business. The Forum reported to the Minister on any changes necessary to ensure that regulations meet the six criteria for better regulation set out in the White Paper "Regulating Better" (available from Related Links below).
Submissions
In March 2006, the BRF invited submissions from businesses, business organisations and members of the public on ways in which regulation was causing unnecessary burdens to business in Ireland. About 40 submissions were received and can be downloaded below.
