Public consultation will help shape Enterprise 2035
Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, has launched a public consultation to inform the development of Enterprise 2035, Ireland’s new enterprise strategy. The Programme for Government commits to developing and publishing Enterprise 2035 as a long-term ambition for enterprise growth and job creation over the coming decade. Building on the White Paper on Enterprise 2022–2030, the strategy will consider how Ireland can maintain its strengths as an open economy with strong trade and foreign direct investment, a vibrant innovation ecosystem and a resilient labour market.
The strategy is being developed at a time of significant change for businesses, including accelerating digitalisation, the growth of artificial intelligence, decarbonisation requirements and changing global trade and investment patterns. The consultation provides an opportunity for businesses, workers and other stakeholders to identify the priorities and actions needed to build a more innovative, sustainable, resilient and regionally balanced enterprise economy over the decade ahead.
Launching the consultation, Minister Burke said:
“Enterprise 2035 will help ensure that Ireland remains competitive and continues to provide a supportive environment for enterprises to grow, creating quality employment in all areas of the country. I strongly encourage businesses, workers and other stakeholders to participate in the consultation and share their views.”
Respondents are invited to consider what Ireland’s enterprise economy should look like in 2035, how Ireland can strengthen innovation and the commercialisation of new technologies across enterprises of all sizes, and how enterprise policy should respond to changing global trade and investment patterns. They may also provide broader views on the future direction of Irish enterprise policy.

The closing date for submissions is 5pm on Friday, 18 September 2026.
