Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation with responsibility for the Personal Injuries Assessment Board, Robert Troy TD, said:
"The High Court’s judgement today in a second case challenging the Personal Injuries Guidelines is very welcome.
“Alongside the previous judgement earlier this month, today’s judgement brings consistency and clarity to the application of the Personal Injuries Guidelines to personal injury awards.
“The PIAB process is proven to offer the fastest and most cost-effective means of fairly resolving personal injuries claims. I want to ensure that more people can avail of this effective process, and legislation which I published in February will give more powers and responsibilities to PIAB to increase the number of claims resolved without recourse to litigation. I expect to introduce this legislation to the Dáil shortly with a view to its enactment later this year.”
