Share your views on the testing tool and what Ireland’s Responsible Business Compass could look like
Markets and regulators are increasingly requiring businesses to act more responsibly in their activities and supply chains. In recent years, the European Union has adopted a growing number of legislative measures to promote climate neutrality, sustainability, and responsible business conduct. The Government of Ireland has noted that Irish businesses are struggling to understand their obligations and prepare for different requirements.
The Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment has requested support from the European Commission through the Technical Support Instrument to develop a ‘Responsible Business Compass’. The future Compass will help businesses and policy makers navigate the new EU legislation and identify relevant national policy support. To prepare its recommendations on the future Compass, the OECD has analysed selected EU sustainability legislation and Ireland’s business support system, and developed a testing tool to visualise key interactions between EU legislative measures, national institutions and support measures.
This consultation aims to gather user experience feedback on the pilot tool and views for the future Compass. It is targeted to policy makers, government agencies, businesses (small and large alike), and the broader community.
The consultation is available until 15 January 2026 and contributions are anonymous.
