This report provides an analysis of Ireland's total research and development activity and includes data on expenditure; sources of funding; sectors of performance; research personnel; other science and technology indicators; and innovation statistics.

It brings together data from a number of publications including The Science Budget 2007/2008 (Forfás); The Higher Education Research and Development Survey 2006 (Forfás); Business Expenditure on Research and Development 2007/2008 (CSO/Forfás); and the Community Innovation Survey 2004-2006 (CSO/Forfás).
