The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE) has just published its Gender Pay Gap Report for 2024.
This report has been aligned with the Gender Pay Gap Information Act 2021. Initially, the legislation required organisations with 250 or more employees to report on the hourly gender pay gap in their organisation across a range of metrics. From 2024, this legislation extends to all organisations with 150 or more employees and in 2026, it will apply further to all employers with 50 or more employees.
The report indicates that the DETE’s gender pay gap in 2024 is 9.55%, in favour of males. DETE has a total of 969 employees, with 57% females and 43% males. This report incorporates staff employed at the time of the snapshot for reporting on 21 June 2024. The percentage of female employees within the upper remuneration quartile is 47.52% in 2024. We are reflecting on our 2024 gender pay gap results and are committed to a number of actions such as using learning and career development initiatives to improve our approach to ED&I and monitoring fairness and transparency in promotion practices.
