The Occasional Trading Act 1979 requires people who want to undertake occasional trading to get a permit. 'Occasional trading' means selling goods at a place (not a public place) where the seller has been in occupation for less than three continuous months before the sale.
An application must be made 30 days before trading begins. The permit fee is €95.23 for the first day, with an additional charge of €31.74 for each extra day (or part thereof) at the same venue. For example, the cost is €95.23 for one day, €126.97 for two days, and so forth.
A copy of the completed and signed application form can be sent by email to conspol@enterprise.gov.ie.
