Ireland’s Competitiveness Challenge 2016 sets out the medium term policy actions required to enhance Irish competitiveness.
It calls for action today to support competitiveness tomorrow. This year’s report also includes the Council’s Submission to the Action Plan for Jobs 2017 which identifies the most immediate areas for action in 2017.
The Council has focused on nine key themes this year, including ensuring economic growth is balanced and sustainable; maintaining fiscal sustainability; prioritising investment infrastructure; improving cost competitiveness; enhancing talent and skills; supporting innovation and productivity; broadening the enterprise and export base; increasing labour market participation; and an examination of the competitiveness implications of Brexit.
