Consumer Strategy Group Report

In March 2004 An Tánaiste and the then Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Ms. Mary Harney, T.D., established a Consumer Strategy Group (CSG) to advise on the development of a national consumer policy.

The report contains 35 recommendations designed to create a new environment of consumer awareness, access, protection and influence that will enhance the quality of life in Ireland.

In the course of its work the group commissioned the most extensive research ever carried out in Ireland on consumer issues. This includes an analysis of the evolution and breakdown of prices in Ireland and an assessment of the awareness, attitudes and satisfaction among the adult population in Ireland regarding consumer rights, protection and legislation.
