Annual Competitiveness Report 2003

The Annual Competitiveness Report benchmarks Ireland's performance across key competitiveness indicators against a number of other countries. This report says that the Government should avoid inflation-fuelling increases in customs and excise duties, VAT and publicly administered prices in the forthcoming budget. Only by doing this can Government help to bring and maintain the rate of inflation below 2.0%, in line with the euro-area average.
