Ireland’s AI job market doubles in two years, signalling strong economic momentum

• AI jobs have doubled in Ireland since 2023

• Ireland amongst the top performing countries in the world in respect of both the demand for and the supply of AI talent

Today (Thursday, 6 November 2025), the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs (EGFSN) published a new report examining ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Irish labour market’. Across several metrics, Ireland is close to the top of global rankings in relation to AI with a very strong demand for persons with AI skills but also a robust pipeline of quality jobs in this field. The initial indications are that there could be considerable upside potential for Irish economic growth going forward given the speed and pace of AI adoption.

Minister Burke welcomed the report as continuing evidence of the adaptability and readiness within Ireland’s enterprise sector and labour force.

This report on AI and the Irish labour market is timely and I congratulate the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs (EGFSN) for this work. There are a number of positive findings, and it is clear that Ireland’s enterprise sector and labour force are adjusting to the AI revolution at a rapid pace. This highlights the inherent dynamism and robustness within our economy - it shows our policies are working to create jobs, incomes and ultimately to raise living standards.

"The report shows that we continue to have the highest levels of STEM graduates per capita in the EU. We know we need to future-proof our economy, and we will continue to invest in the jobs of tomorrow in areas such as AI, as technology continues to evolve”.

Minister of State for Trade Promotion, AI and Digital Transformation, Niamh Smyth, welcomed the EGFSN’s new publication ‘How AI is transforming the Irish Labour Market’ as a very timely input into Ireland’s fast growing and dynamic AI landscape.

I would like to thank the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs (EGFSN) for their work in producing this new report examining ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Irish labour market’.

"The Irish labour market continues to perform remarkably well. This insightful research shows that AI has genuine potential to address our productivity gaps and labour shortages, while confirming Ireland's position among the leading EU countries in AI adoption. Particularly positive is the strong demand for AI skills matched by solid supply. However, as this report rightly notes, Government must continue to monitor and address any risks AI may pose to our workforce.”
