Minister Humphreys begins six days of engagements in the United States for St. Patrick’s Day programme of events

The Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys T.D. today began a six-day trade and investment mission to the United States as part of her St. Patrick’s Day programme of events. Across the coming days Minister Humphreys will attend the SXSW Trade Show and hold meetings with clients of both Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland.

The Minister’s programme in the USA will support Irish companies in developing in-market expertise and help to influence key decision makers. It will also reinforce Ireland’s strong global economic and commercial reputation and serve to stimulate demand for Irish products and services.

Speaking on the first day of her programme Minister Humphreys said:

“I’m looking forward to my engagements in the United States over the coming days, including the hugely influential SXSW Trade Show today where Enterprise Ireland is supporting 10 Irish startups. I’ll also be joining Irish company Wisetek, who are set to announce the opening of their new operations center in Austin, Texas. I was delighted to meet with WP Engine today who work closely with the IDA and indeed only last week, I visited their offices in Limerick.”

As part of her programme of events, Minister Humphreys will also address the California State Legislature in Sacramento and attend the ITLG Silicon Valley Global Awards.

“The tech sector will feature prominently in my engagements over the coming days, including: a ‘Women in Tech’ event at the Austin Consulate of Ireland and the ITLG Silicon Valley Global Awards on Thursday. I’ll be attending meetings with Enterprise Ireland and IDA Clients, as well as the ‘Women in Leadership’ business reception in San Francisco.”

Minister Humphreys will also meet with the Mayor of San Francisco Mark Farrell this Friday ahead of her attendance at the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
