Corporate Health & Wellness provider announces 100+ new jobs for Ireland

Spectrum Wellness gearing up for international expansion

Ireland’s largest provider of corporate health and wellness programmes, Spectrum Wellness, has announced it is creating more than 100 new jobs in Dublin. The new roles will be in the areas of account management, marketing, operations, product development and mental health case management.

The openings at Spectrum Wellness have been created following the expansion of its service offering together with new client wins. The company is also scaling up its operations and plans a UK market launch next year, which will be followed by other markets by 2020. Today’s news in relation to jobs and growth is part of a €4 million investment programme by the privately-owned, Irish company.

Spectrum Wellness supports the health and wellness of 175,000 employees across 1,000 companies in Ireland, providing a range of services and programmes covering employee wellness, mental health, EAP (employee assist programmes), corporate gym management and screening. Spectrum Wellness works with some of the largest employers in Ireland and is an exclusive health and wellbeing partner to laya healthcare.

The 100+ new jobs will treble the size of the current 50 strong workforce based in Dublin. Its 27-year-old co-founder and managing director, Stephen Costello said that the jobs have been created because of significant business growth in Ireland. “Turnover is forecast to hit €4 million this year, with secured contracts bringing that to €7 million by the end of 2019.”

“The investment in jobs is a clear signal about the confidence we have in the future of the company, not only in Ireland but in markets such as the UK, Europe and the US. Our aim is to grow Spectrum Wellness to be a leading global player in corporate health and wellness, and we are currently looking at a range of funding options that will support our international growth.

“This might sound ambitious but according to the Global Wellness Institute1, $43bn is being spent globally each year on health and wellbeing workplace programmes, covering only 9% of workforces. The global market opportunities in this area are therefore enormous, so I believe that our goal is wholly achievable.” said Stephen Costello.

Spectrum Wellness creates and builds bespoke, personalised programmes for corporate clients and their employees.   Because every company is different, programmes vary and can include a one-off coaching seminar on mental health, personalised health and nutrition programmes, access to Spectrum Wellness teams including health coaches and physios, mental health professionals, fitness instructors, dental care and ergonomics assessments. And, for larger organisations, the company sets up and manages full-size, onsite staff gyms.

“What we offer is a combination of digital, insight-driven programmes together with face-to-face support and coaching from our team of experts. Workforces are as unique as the people in them and that is why all of our programmes are created specifically for our clients by our own team here in Ireland,” said Stephen Costello.

“Because our client offering is data-lead, we can demonstrate tangible results, benchmarking the health of a company against national norms and industry peers. These types of outputs are crucial for any business investing in the health of their employees.”

Evidence, both scientific and anecdotal, shows that introducing even low-level health and wellness workplace programmes can result in reduced levels of absenteeism, greater staff retention, higher levels of productivity and engagement and better working environments.

“Companies are accepting that health and wellness is no longer a perk but rather a responsible response to employee expectations in an ever-changing workplace landscape. As companies have started to see real results, corporate wellness programmes have evolved considerably and are seen as a prudent, long-term investment in the business.”

Employees are now looking for companies that have a culture of wellness. In today’s job market, companies have to stand out with attractive benefits that entice the best talent.

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys TD, said: “Through its Healthy Ireland initiative, the Government is committed to creating an Ireland where health and wellbeing are valued and supported.  This means that every sector of society has a role to play and employers have a real responsibility to their staff in this regard. This is why today’s announcement by Spectrum Wellness is particularly welcome.  Not only is the company proposing to create a significant number of new jobs, but it is also helping businesses to support their staff with a wide range of services that will have a positive effect on overall health; physical and mental.  As an Enterprise Ireland client, it’s fantastic to see this young company doing so well, and I wish the team at Spectrum Wellness every success as they continue to grow the company in Ireland, and fulfil their international ambition.”

Spectrum Wellness was formed following a reorganisation of the Spectrum Health Group, founded in 2007 by Stuart McGoldrick and Anne McGoldrick. Spectrum Wellness now exclusively manages the corporate side of the business. Stuart McGoldrick continues to be heavily involved in Spectrum Wellness as majority shareholder and in his role as Chairman. Stephen Costello, was appointed Managing Director in January 2018.
