Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD with Eugene Hillery, Director, International Operations at Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA) today (Tuesday) officially opened its new Dublin office at The Oval, Shelbourne Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Tableau has plans to grow its Dublin office to more than 120 employees over the next three years as it continues its international expansion. The Seattle-based company established its Ireland operations about two years ago. Tableau opened an office earlier this year in Paris and already has offices in London and Frankfurt.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD, who is attending the official Dublin office opening said, “Job creation is still this Government's top priority and so creating an attractive and competitive business environment is essential to secure jobs and investment from world leading software companies such as Tableau. I'm delighted that Tableau has had the confidence in Ireland to expand its footprint in Dublin and to grow its workforce to over 120 people. The expansion of Tableau will also further boost Ireland's reputation as a centre of excellence in big data, a sector with huge potential for Ireland and its economy.”
Tableau has had tremendous international expansion in the last year. The company reached more than 5,000 customer accounts in the EMEA region in 2014 and recently announced international revenue growth of 83% year over year in the second quarter of 2015. Customers include Bank of Ireland, Irish Life, AWAS Aviation, Barclays, Visa Europe and French banking firm BNP Paribas.
“Ireland is an important market for us and we are delighted to be growing our team and operations here in Dublin where there is such a talented and diverse workforce,” said Eugene Hillery, Director, International Operations based in Dublin. “We are seeing strong demand from a variety of sectors and from companies of all sizes who want to better see and understand their data. We currently have more than 40 employees helping to serve this important need, with a number of positions currently open across various parts of our business.”
Speaking from Beijing where he is leading a 5-day trade mission, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD said: “Software is a key sector which we have targeted as part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and in recent years we have seen an impressive jobs performance in this area. Today’s announcement by Tableau, a dynamic and innovative company in this sector, is another great boost for Dublin. I wish Tableau every success with this project.”
