The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD departs this morning (Wednesday) on a 2-day investment mission to London and Frankfurt, targeting new jobs in the financial services and technology sector.
The mission is organised by IDA Ireland and Minister Bruton will be accompanied by CEO Martin Shanahan. It comprises 7 one-on-one meetings with senior decision-makers from both established employers with facilities already in Ireland, as well as potential new-name investors.
This is Minister Bruton’s 27th major trade/investment mission since taking office 4 ½ years ago. As part of its strategy to support increased exports and jobs, this Government more than doubled the number of trade missions since taking office.
Speaking before departing, Minister Bruton said: “Foreign direct investment is at the heart of our jobs plan. Since we took office, multinational companies have added more than 25,000 direct jobs in Ireland – with major knock-on employment across the country – and our aim is to deepen and broaden that impact even further. To deliver on that we have put in place a range of measures, including increasing the number of IDA staff in overseas markets and improved tax incentives”.
“On this investment mission to London and Frankfurt we will be discussing specific job-creation projects in Ireland with leading global companies in the technology, financial services and manufacturing sectors. In keeping with our driving focus on regional job-creation, many of the potential projects being discussed relate to locations outside of Dublin. I am confident that the discussions held this week will lead to jobs being created in the near future in cities and towns right across the country”.
CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan said:
“A key part of the IDA’s new strategy is increasing the focus on Europe as a source market for foreign investment – these investment missions, where companies get the opportunity to speak directly with Government, are an important part of the process of convincing companies to invest in Ireland”.
