Open Consultations
The Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment invites stakeholders to submit their input by replying to the European Commission call for evidence and questionnaire.
The European Commission has launched an Open Public Consultation and Call for Evidence as part of its evaluation of Regulation (EU) 2021/821, the EU framework governing the export, brokering, technical assistance, transit and transfer of dual-use items.
Dual-use items are goods, software and technology that can be used for both civil and military purposes. These controls play an important role in supporting international security, preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and addressing emerging risks associated with advanced technologies.
The evaluation will examine how the regulation has operated since its entry into force in September 2021 and will assess its effectiveness in meeting its objectives. It will consider issues such as the functioning of export controls across the EU, the impact on competitiveness and innovation, the regulation's ability to respond to technological developments, and the administrative burden on stakeholders and competent authorities.
The consultation is open to all interested parties and provides an opportunity to contribute views and evidence that will help inform the Commission's assessment and any future policy development in the area of EU dual-use export controls.
