The Department commissioned an independent evaluation of the Enterprise Ireland Research, Development and Innovation Fund. The evaluation was undertaken by Technopolis Group with support from the ESRI.
The report examines the programmes’ alignment with the national enterprise and innovation priorities. It assesses the effectiveness of the programme in terms of its impact on the economic and innovation performance of the beneficiaries and in increasing the base of enterprises investing in R&D between 2007 and 2018. The report also examines the efficiency of the implementation procedures and compares the Fund with similar programmes internationally. A number of recommendations for future programme improvement are set out.
