Annual Competitiveness Challenge 1998

The Annual Competitiveness Challenge is an annual publication from the National Competitiveness Council that outlines the main challenges facing the business sector in Ireland over the medium term and highlights the policy responses required to meet them. According to this, the first competitiveness challenge report, Ireland's competitive position, while outstandingly strong in recent years, is not yet based on solid foundations and needs to be kept under constant review if recent danger signs such as skills shortages, infrastructural bottlenecks, lack of investment in telecommunications and the growing gap between multinationals and indigenous companies are not to undermine it.
