An award winning Clare-based international knitwear company has today announced investment plans at its new Killaloe manufacturing facility.
McConnell Woollen Mills Ltd, established by Anne Behan in 2000 with the support of the Local Enterprise Office Clare and LEADER (administered by Clare Local Development Co Ltd), announced plans to invest over €400,000 and create 10 new jobs over the next 3 years at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the facility's opening.
The announcement was made today at the official opening by Pat Breen TD, Minister for Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection. Speaking at the opening, Minister Breen commended Anne on her passion and commitment to Irish Design and employment in Clare and said: “It is encouraging to see a company such as McConnell Woollen Mills, who have been based in Clare for the last twenty years, continue to expand and invest in the region. Despite the potential challenges that Brexit poses, they continue to demonstrate the opportunities for businesses in Clare and the West of Ireland to grow and develop international markets. It is fantastic to see the recognition they have already received for their success in export excellence to Europe, America and Japan”

Clare and I would like to thank everyone for their support, in particular the team who have worked tirelessly over the last few months to make this happen."

We ensure all clients are looked after satisfactorily by having the creations made in Ireland using state of the art technological infrastructure. This new facility will allow us to continue to grow and expand in the years ahead.”
