The growth of SciFest since its establishment in 2006 is to be welcomed and shows that SciFest is clearly making a very significant contribution to heightening awareness of science among young people, and providing our young students with the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and abilities across the scientific disciplines”.

Minister Sherlock also took the opportunity to welcome today’s announcement by Apple that it to create 500 new jobs at its Cork facility. “This is an extraordinary win for Ireland and Cork. Apple is now firmly embedded in Cork and has become a central part of the landscape of the Cork region.

“Looking at all the talented students here today I know that Cork will continue to be an attractive location for companies like Apple to invest and grow their businesses using a highly skilled and innovative workforce”, Minister Sherlock added.
