    Research forms part of the EU Competitiveness agenda. The Competitiveness Council meets several times a year and is attended by Research and Industry Ministers.

    The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation represents Ireland on the Horizon 2020 Strategic Programme Committee configuration. These meetings are organised by the European Commission and meet in Brussels.

    In the Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels, the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation’s Research Attaché works on the research agenda full-time that includes servicing the Council Research Working Party and promoting Ireland’s interests.
